Universal Preheater announces the availability of the new Low Watt Density (LWD) Universal Preheater kits for engines, transmissions, hydraulics, gear boxes, bulk oil tanks, reservoirs etc. These kit sizes are based on the capacity of the housing and the energy level needed for that volume.
Each thin, flexible silicone/fiberglass heating pad is designed to mount permanently to the outside bottom or side of the housing using a permanent adhesive. A specialized, double thickness, flexible ceramic insulation pad is mounted on top of the LWD Universal Preheater&trade helping to drive more heat into the housing while keeping the electrical draw low. The LWD Universal Preheater&trade uses 1/3 (or more) less electrical power than conventional block heaters and in-line coolant heaters. The LWD Universal Preheater&trade converts the metal of the housing into a heat transfer element eliminating the possibility of burning the oil by exposing a large square inch surface of oil to low watt heat. There is no "coking" of the oil.
The LWD Universal Preheater&trade is ideally suited to air-cooled engines because it can be mounted over ribs, recessed bolt heads, etc. and easily tolerates trapped air pockets without the risk of burn-out.
Efficiency of the Universal Preheater&trade stays like new because there are no coils to clog from cooling system by-products and no contaminants to impair performance. No drilling or welding is required on hydraulic reservoirs as the Universal Preheater&trade mounts to the outside of the housing using an adhesive. A typical installation takes from 15 minutes to 30 minutes for most applications. There is no risk of engine or hydraulic oil or coolant leaks because no system is invaded.
Typical engine oil temperatures achieved in the first hour of warming from 0 F range up to +50 F without burning the oil when sized as we recommend. When left energized 6 to 8 hours or longer it produces an estimated 100 F. to 120 F. oil temperature. Being continuously energized will not harm the oil or the Preheater and condensation moisture is driven out of the oil. This helps to avoid the formation of acids in the engine oil that etches bearings and shortens engine life.
The LWD Universal Preheater&trade reduces the cold start load on the engine electrical system, too. Battery and starter life is extended. Wear and tear on the engine itself is reduced because the heated oil provides instant lubrication even in the coldest weather. Hot oil helps that last engine bearing on start up to get lubrication sooner and to last longer.
